Dr. Behzad Dadfar is a physician-researcher with expertise in transplantation immunology, tumor microenvironment, cancer immunotherapy, microsurgery, and clinical outcome research.
He earned his M.D. degree from Iran. Following medical school, he worked as a primary care and emergency physician before pursuing a career in academic research.
Dr. Dadfar joined the University of Maryland in 2022 as a research fellow, where he developed microsurgical skills and studied lung transplantation in animal models. He then continued his training as a postdoctoral research fellow at Northwestern University, investigating anti-tumor immune responses in non-small cell lung cancer, ischemia-reperfusion injury, and mechanisms of chronic lung allograft dysfunction.
His research is focused on exploring the role of immune cell biology during the pathogenesis of pulmonary disorders and rejection after lung transplantation and trachea transplantation.
