About
Dr. Vyacheslav (Slav) Palchevskiy is an Associate Project Scientist, Step II, in Dr. John A. Belperio’s laboratory. He earned his B.S. degree in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics at UCLA (1999). He completed his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology at USC (2007), where he explored the role of exogenous DNA as a nutrient source for starving bacteria during competitive survival in environments containing limited nutrients.
Dr. Palchevskiy’s primary research is focused on exploring the role of T-cell biology during the pathogenesis of pulmonary disorders and rejection after lung transplantation. More specifically, to evaluate the role of chemokines and T cell interactions using heterotopic tracheal transplantation (HTT) and left lung orthotopic transplantation (OLT) murine animal models. In addition, Dr. Palchevskiy is actively involved in The Clinical Trials in Organ Transplantation (CTOT) multi-center study projects to evaluate the clinical risk factors and biological mechanisms for chronic lung allograft dysfunction (CLAD) pathogenesis.
